Decompression Techniques

cardtechnicaldiver.jpgYou are over 18 years old and you have already made lots of dives. You have PSS Deep Diver and Scuba Rescue Diver . You know what you like doing in the water, but unfortunately the limits of recreational diving sometimes seem too restrictive.

In order to pursue your particular interests (wreck diving, shark watching, etc) you would like to be able to stay under the water longer than the time allowed by the maximum no-stop dive time or go deeper than the the prophetic 40 meters (130 feet).

To be able to do this you have to approach a branch of diving referred to as "technical" diving that has become very popular in the last few years. But you should do this with great care: the risks are much greater than those of recreational diving and must be confronted intelligently, above all, by getting excellent preparation and following a well-studied training course. This is why PSS created the special "Technical Training" division! Your first step towards this new way of diving can be no other than the PSS "Decompression Techniques" course.

This course offers you an exceptional opportunity to develop as a skilled and experienced diver. The kind of knowledge you acquire and the practical application of the techniques for diving beyond the maximum no-stop dive time will enable you to substantially extend the limits of your possibilities, while at the same time giving you a greater autonomous capability of risk analysis. When the no-stop times are exceeded, the problems, whatever they are, must be resolved under the water, trying to find a solution that requires the assistance of a buddy as little as possible. The Decompression Techniques course will teach you the basic techniques to deal with some of the important emergency situations regarding technical diving. This is why the course is also a compulsory step for any PSS technical qualification.

On successfully completing the course you will be awarded certification of your ability to dive autonomously, without the need of the supervision of a professional, within the limits established for recreational diving, with the exception of the possibility of exceeding the maximum no-stop dive time and reaching a depth of 45 meters (150 feet), as long as the total duration of the decompression (including the ascent) does not exceed 30 minutes.
