The PSS Instructor courses are divided into three main areas of study: theory lessons, assessment of theory teaching and practical lessons and evaluations of skills.
During the theory lessons the candidates must learn and know how to knowledgely apply notions regarding the PSS teaching method, rules, procedures and philosophy.
During the assessed theory teaching lessons the candidate must know how to practically apply the notions learned regarding the PSS teaching method, rules, procedures and philosophy.
During the assessed practical lessons the candidates must demonstrate the use of the most up-to-date teaching methods.
During the assessed lessons in confined water the candidates must also demonstrate their own watermanship skills, meaning the ability to be completely at ease in the water in any situation.
During all the assessed practical lessons the candidates must put into practice the techniques of evaluation and control, and demonstrate his or her ability to manage course students.
In order that the appraisal is truly objective, the final evaluation is entrusted to a qualified Course Director or, for some courses, to an Instructor Trainer.
Evaluation consists of assessing the candidate's final preparation in knowledge, in watermanship skills and in the teaching of theory lessons and technical skills.
If a candidate doesn't pass all of the evaluation phases, this does not compromise the outcome of the course because the candidate only need repeat the areas in which he or she was lacking in order to qualify.
