The courses in the PSS Technical division belong to a branch of diving which, in general, is defined as "tecnical". This term is used to mean those diving activities carried out, for personal enjoyment, beyond the limits of "recreational" diving. To be truthful, hyperbaric medicine considers any dive during which a change of breathing gas occurs to be "tecnical". However PSS considers this definition too broad while, at the same time, too restrictive.
PSS considers any type of dive (within or exceeding the maximum no-stop dive time) made beyond the limits of recreational diving activities as being "tecnical".
Obviously technical diving also has its limits which must be respected, particularly during training activities.
