PSS's "Emergency" division deals with handling emergencies.
This division obviously focuses its attention on the medical emergencies concerning diving activities. However, in order to make the "chain of rescue" as efficient as possible, courses of various nature have been designed, such as those of basic first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation, which are for everyone.
Obviously this assistance must be codified in a coherent manner following set procedures then put into practice by medical personnel or paramedics so as to maintain homogeneity in the "chain of rescue".
PSS's main points of reference are the directives of the I.R.C. (Italian Resuscitation Council) - of which PSS Worldwide is an "Institutional Member": This organization collaborates with the E.R.C. (European Resuscitation Council) and the A.H.A. (American Hearth Association) in the continuous updating and teaching of resuscitation and first aid procedures.
All the teaching materials are carefully drawn up with the consultation and scientific supervision of specialized medical personnel.
