What Happens on Crossover Day
The session is designed to be focused, efficient, and complete. In a single morning you will learn about the uniqueness of PSS training:

Corrective Lessons Any outstanding corrective theory lessons will be conducted during the session, ensuring all candidates are fully prepared to teach to PSS standards. You will also get the opportunity to demonstrate your understanding of the corrective lesson technique.

EVO System Orientation You'll receive a thorough walkthrough of all processes related to PSS Worldwide's reserved EVO area, covering everything you need to run your operation smoothly from day one:
• Materials ordering
• Materials issuance
• Course management
• Certifications
• Affiliate registration

A note on preparation: To get the most out of Crossover Day, candidates are strongly encouraged to complete all eLearning and upload all required documentation before the session. Coming prepared means you leave credentialed.

Walk Away Credentialed — Same Day
Crossover candidates who complete their eLearning, training, and upload all required documentation prior to the conclusion of the Crossover Day will receive their PSS instructor number at the end of the session.

Candidates who do not complete all administrative requirements during the event itself will have 30 days from the Crossover Day to submit any outstanding materials and finalize their certification.

What You'll Learn
The crossover curriculum is built around the PSS Instructor Levels Manual (Modules 1–9) and the PSS Rules and Programs for Diving Courses. Candidates will develop both theoretical knowledge and practical teaching skills across the following areas:

The PSS System An introduction to PSS Worldwide, its organizational structure, professional levels, record systems, and the rules that govern instruction across its global network.

Becoming a PSS Instructor The objectives and standards of PSS instruction, membership services available to professionals, and what it means to join the PSS community.

Teaching Theory & Learning Science Core principles of how people learn, effective teaching methods, and strategies for maintaining student attention and facilitating meaningful skill development.

Traditional Theory Lessons How to structure and deliver effective classroom sessions — from setting measurable objectives and using analogies, to summarizing content and managing lesson flow.

Corrective Theory Lessons A modern approach to instruction that moves beyond the traditional format, incorporating self-study, flipped teaching, interactive learning, and eLearning tools. Candidates will learn how to introduce, correct, apply, and summarize material in this contemporary model.

Confined Water Training The purpose and structure of pool or confined water lessons, including how to explain skills, guide execution, provide conclusions, and assess student performance.

Briefing & Debriefing Best practices for pre- and post-dive communication — covering confined water and open water contexts, exercise-specific briefings, and effective debriefing techniques.

PSS Course Offerings An overview of the full PSS curriculum, including Freediving, Skin Diving, Recreational, Technical, and Emergency courses, and guidance on how to teach them effectively.

Open Water Training The purpose of open water exercises, how to structure sessions, and how to conduct and assess briefings, skill execution, and debriefings in an open water environment.

Communication & Student Relations Developing strong professional relationships with students and the public, effective use of voice, gesture, and body language, writing clearly, and using teaching aids to enhance instruction.

Ongoing Training & Professional Development Understanding the continuous nature of diver education — how to promote successive learning for students and how PSS supports the ongoing growth of its instructors.

By the end of the course, candidates will be able to reference and practically apply all PSS Rules in real-world teaching scenarios.
